Council prepares for subcontinent
Technology business incubators and start-up development will be discussed during workshops held in India by members of Basildon Council.
Part of Basildon’s International Development Programme, and supported by the department of international development and the UK Science and Innovation Network, the sessions will take place in Chennai on 22-23 November, Kolkata on 24-25, Chandigarh on 28-29 and Pune on 30 November and 1 December.
They will be chaired by Martin Garratt, chief executive of Cambridge Cleantech, and Karthik Durgaprasad, senior international development officer at Basildon Council.
The aim is to share best practice with Indian stakeholders seeking to support innovation and enterprise.
The plans to establish an innovation warehouse in the borough will be showcased and international partnerships sought.
The programme is supported by the UK High Commission to India.
Basildon Council was part of the prime minister’s recent delegation to the UK/India Tech Summit in Delhi on 7-9 November and has organised a trade mission to Bengaluru.
The International Business Development Programme, run by an international officer, offers support to companies seeking to do business with India and access a global trade network.
