Work starts on medical centre

Work is progressing on a £2 million health facility in Wickford town centre.

Essex County Council is providing £500,000 of funding to support the development of the new premises.

Council leader Phil Turner, MP Mark Francois and representatives from the NHS, Essex County Council and London Road Surgery were present for an event to mark the  project getting underway on 19 July 2016.

Planning permission was granted in July 2015 and completion is expected in July 2017. The facility will be designed and built by Apex Contractors.

The centre will feature eight examination and three consultation rooms. More GPs are to be recruited and treatment, interview and training rooms will be added.

The London Road Surgery will cater for the town’s expanding population.
