Joint venture signed for Gardiners Lane

A developer and a construction company have started a joint venture to work on a Basildon site with potential for around 800 homes.

Inland Homes announced today (14 November) it would work with the Anderson Group on the Gardiners Lane regeneration area.

The joint venture will initially develop 43 homes on a 1.21-ha site at Gardiners Close, sourced by Anderson.

Anderson will be carrying out the construction through its Constable Homes subsidiary, with Inland Homes responsible for the sales and marketing of the units. Groundwork is expected to begin this week.

Both parties have contributed an initial £1.44 million to the project, which has an estimated value of around £13 million.

"We are hopeful that this is just the first phase of a much larger scheme at the Gardiners Lane regeneration area and are delighted to have secured another prime south-east site," said Inland Homes’ CEO Stephen Wicks.

Inland Homes has submitted a planning application for a further 89 properties in the area.

A 33-minute train journey from London’s Fenchurch Street station, Gardiners Lane is considered a strategic site within the Thames Gateway South Essex, indicated by the government as a priority area for economic regeneration.
