Homes for Wickford

A garage site and a community hall in Wickford are to be turned into homes.

Basildon Council’s planning committee approved on 18 April two applications submitted by Sempra Homes for Thackeray Road and Kershaw Close, off Nevendon Road.

The redevelopment of the sites will provide 10 homes, which will be let at what the council said will be affordable rent to local people on the Homeseekers’ Register.

In Thackeray Road, two garage blocks will be demolished and four terraced two-bedroom homes built, with two parking spaces per property.

Kershaw Close will see a disused community hall demolished and replaced with four two-bedroom terraced homes and two two-bedroom flats. There will be two parking spaces per home and 13 extra spaces for general use.

Sempra Homes is a commercial arm of Basildon Council with plans to create more than 580 new homes across the borough in the next five years.
