Prize for maintenance contract

Basildon Council and property manager Morgan Sindall Property Services jointly scooped a national award for the maintenance and repair of the authority's housing stock and corporate buildings.

In January's National Housing Maintenance Forum (NHMF) awards, which recognise improvements made to housing projects by housing sector organisations, Basildon Council and Morgan Sindell received the 'most improved asset management service' award.

The council chose Morgan Sindall in 2016 as its preferred partner to deliver an integrated asset management service for a £330 million, 15-year contract incorporating repairs and planned maintenance for its portfolio of 13,000 homes, 5,450 garages, and various commercial premises.

Kerry Smith, Basildon Council's chairman of the housing and community committee, said: "I am pleased that the judges recognised the wide range of benefits our contract with Morgan Sindall delivers for the whole community.

"We have continued to see the difference it makes to our tenants, and now the service has received the national recognition it deserves; this award is testament to the great deal of effort that has gone into this contract and the hard work of all involved."

The judges praised the partnership's "holistic approach to asset management and some good quantitative examples, with a wide range of benefits to the client, contractor, residents and the wider community."
