The plans for the newly named Laindon Place feature an improved shopping offer, a Swan office for staff relocating from Billericay, a health centre and new homes.

Luke Riley, Swan's projects director was joined by Councillors Stephen Hillier, Andrew Gordon, Allan Davies, Hazel Green and Frank Ferguson of Basildon Council at a ceremony in January 2018 to unveil the branding, which is displayed on the hoarding surround the development site.

Swan's chief executive, John Synnuck, said: "We've been working in Basildon for almost 25 years, so we recognise how the regeneration of Laindon Shopping Centre is key to Laindon's success as a place to live, shop and work.

"That's why we stepped in and bought the centre, so we could make this happen, after so many previous owners failed."

Work is due to start onsite in late spring 2018.
