Smooth transition pledged for Laindon Place

Swan Housing Association has assured minimal disruption to the public as its Laindon Place regeneration project starts onsite.

The existing car park at Laindon Shopping Centre closed earlier this month to be hoarded, secured and razed ahead of construction.

Swan is working with GPs and the practice manager at the Laindon Health Centre to create wheelchair-user parking bays close to the entrance, with ambulances still able to pick up and drop off there; parking for existing staff at both the health centre and shopping mall will be unaffected. Visitors to the shopping centre may still use at the rear car park as well as a smaller one.

Geoff Pearce, executive director of regeneration and development at Swan, said: "We have worked closely with the GPs and their practice manager to ensure they can continue to provide services to patients throughout the works including ensuring disabled bays are provided and ambulance access maintained."

"This is yet another milestone for the Laindon Place project and takes us another step closer to building a new centre for Laindon that meets the aspirations of the local community".
